Sheffield running

As an urban runner it's always a treat to be somewhere green and hilly with good running paths. And the southern edge of Sheffield is amazing. A mere 0.5k from my in-laws front door and you are running across playing fields, and then down old sunken lanes, through woods and up onto the moor. It was a glorious morning.
Sometimes I am so grateful to running for the places it puts you, typically very early in the morning. If you announce to the family that at 7am you are going out for a walk people would naturally assume you'd lost it, but if you say you're going out for a run this seems perfectly acceptable.
It's true in all sorts of scenarios. I used to travel a lot with work and would always pack a pair of trainers. Even in the most confusing, indecipherable, potentially overwhelming cities once I have a pair of trainers on and shed the expensive looking clothes, bags etc. then I can go anywhere without feeling nervous and without anyone seeming to notice. I can explore. It's very liberating.
It also means you can be up and out really early in the morning when nature plays all its best hands and there aren't many people around to share it with you, which makes it feel slightly special. Thanks running!
