Falling on my arse!

Set off optimistically on a warm sunny day to run a marathon. Felt hot, heavy and sweaty - running in the heat is a completely different challenge, and a much more significant one, than running when it's cool! Listening to a mixture of The Island of Dr. Moreaux (how perspicacious was HG Wells?!) and the India vs. Bangladesh match (how good is Rohit Sharma?!) I did my usual loop up through Victoria, Hyde Park, across to Canary Wharf, down to Greenwich and home. At 30k it started to feel like really hard work, so went the short way round. At around 32k I managed to trip over absolutely nothing outside Goldsmiths College. Felt so weary, almost welcomed the opportunity to lie prone on the pavement for a while. My slowness to get up prompted some mild concern among my fellow pedestrians, and some nice students got me back up on my feet. A few scrapes was the worst of it (see photo) - despite going down like a sack of potatoes! I'm quite paranoid about getting injured as I get closer to the date of the big run...
Weirdly, the fall perked me up, not that it lasted long and soon begin to feel cramp coming on in both legs so walked the last couple of kilometres home. Reckon I'll feel this run tomorrow!
