Birthday run

My 41st today - treated myself to a long, if hot, run.

Ok - so it wasn't really "hot" today, but it felt it after a while. Set out to go for something around a marathon and found it hard. Got to 35k. The issue was hydration and nutrition. I went along the green chain walk, where there are precious few stop points to get fuel, and I paid the price. In winter it's one thing, but in the summer I'm going to have to learn to stop more often and take on more salt and fluids.

Still it was a beautiful day and was listening to the cricket, so I had a lovely time of it. A mention to the lovely people at the Oxleas Wood café where I stopped in desperate need of something but it was cash only - Aaargh! They gave me a banana and lots of iced water. I'll remember a tenner next time I'm that way.

Oxleas Wood Cafe, where they understand over-cooked runner's needs!
