Have done a couple of commute bike rides this morning to see a client up in town and in an attempt to spin the legs round after yesterday's monster 50k run.
Set off after dropping the kids at school and followed the green chain walk all the way to Eltham, then round to the Thames barrier and up towards London Bridge. It was a really long way! Managed a 6:11 pace, and attempted a 5:1 ratio of running to walking.
I was done by 50k though and the thought of running another 70k seems ridiculous! However, on reflection I was just going too fast. My challenge goal is to get the 120k done in 15hrs, and my realistic goal is 18hrs. In that case I need to be running 8k an hour at the most. Yesterday I was closer to 11k/hr. I really need to slow down. I need a 2:1 run:walk ratio to stretch the distance out - I really need a 12hr window to explore that...
Also experienced some (slight) chafing for the first time ever yesterday. Without getting too graphic some form of lubrication is going to be necessary. Nice.
